Jack's 1st Bath

Jack loves bath time...it could be the nice warm water or the clean smells of the soap...but really it's probably because of the fun Whale Bathtub!

Week 2 - The calm before the storm

Jack's second week home was even better than the 1st! We were starting to settle into our new life quite well. Jeremy was still off of work, and Jack was finally starting to gain weight after losing almost a pound in the first days.

Grandma and Grandpa came down for a visit...

Jack should be the new face of Oshkosh B'Gosh...hmm, maybe we can use our "In" at the company... :)

Andy came over for a visit one morning, and is one of the few people who have gotten to see "Fussy Jack"

During week 2, Jack even had a photo shoot! Here is a picture of him posing with one of his usual cutie pie faces!

Just in time for the photo shoot, Jack lost his umbilical cord! It seems he is destined to have an "inny"!

We even went out to dinner one night. It was quite a change for us...two weeks earlier, we'd be going to dinner on a Friday night at 8:30pm or later...this particular Friday dinner happened at 4:00pm. Oh how things have changed! And of course, at the restaurant, Jack was a hit!

What a 1st Week!

We had a great first week home! There was some adjustment to our sleep schedule, as we weren't used to waking up every 3 hours, but otherwise, Jack fit perfectly into our home!

Here is Jack in his carseat on the way home from the hospital. I rode in the back with him, while Jeremy drove us home. We drove through the city, and pointed out sites like The Capitol building, along with things like Target ("Mom's favorite place") and Qdoba ("Dad's favorite restaurant"). He slept the entire time, even while we stopped to get a sub at Cousins. For those who don't know, I couldn't eat deli meat the entire time I was pregnant, unless it was warmed up (yuck!), and it's the one thing that I craved. The night Jack was born, I had a sub sandwhich and have continued to have a sub or delit meat sandwhich everyday since!

When we got home, Jack was still sleeping. What a perfect opportunity for him to try out his new swing!

Here he is in his cradle in our bedroom. It actually was the cradle that I slept in as a baby. My plan "pre-Jack" was to only have him sleep in our room for the first week before moving him to his crib. That quickly went out the window, as I found that my extreme worrisome personality actually could increase. Here we are at week 5 (as I write this), and he still sleeps in the cradle!

"Aunt" Keri, "Uncle" Simon, Henry and Victoria were our first visitors at the house!

We had a few doctors' appointments that week, and after a clean bill of health, we stopped for a late lunch at Red Robin.

Our friends Mike, Meredith, and Ben stopped over with delicious food for us, and some nice gifts for Jack. Here is his new mouse friend!
We also took our first walk that week. Jack was in awe of everything he saw (until he fell asleep shortly thereafter).

Brand New

Our first days with Jack in the hospital were a whirlwind! We had lots of visits from family, friends, nurses and doctors. It seem like before we knew it, we were headed home.

Life as we know it...

Life as we know it has changed dramatically! We are so happy to announce the newest addition to our family...

Welcome

Jackson Patrick! He was born on May 16, 2011 at 4:37 pm

It was a long delivery. Here I am all hooked up to the monitors and IV's.

Long story short--On Saturday, May 14, my water was "trickling", however, we didn't go to the hospital until the next morning. We weren't sure if it was actually my water and figured that we would be sent away, since I didn't have a single contraction, but after a quick test, the nurse announced "You're Staying!".

They gave me pitocin to induce me around 1:00 pm. At 11:30 pm, I was only 1.5 cm dialated. 22 hours after starting the pitocin, I was finally 10 cm, and could start to push...which ended up being a 5 hour process! Of course, Jack was completely worth it!

We are so happy to welcome Jack into our lives!

Poppy's Humble Abode

One of my biggest, and most important room decoration projects to date...Poppy's nusery has been a work in progress since January! We started with a room that we had already painted light green and hung brown curtains two years ago (when we moved into the house), so I knew what the base of the room would be...the question was...where do I go from there!

I found that I'm not really into the "standard" baby boy thing, after HOURS of countless internet searches for baby bedding. Of course, anyone who knows me probably could've guessed that I wouldn't be able to just buy something and hang it up--I don't really know how to take the easy route.

Poppy's crib was a gift from Grandma and Grandpa Teigen. I loved it from the minute I saw it in the store. Once I put it together in his room, inspiration rang!

I kept the green and brown that was already in the room, and added a "pop"of turquoise/teal. It was tough to find this color, especially in baby items, so I really had to find it in many sources. My eyes were constantely peeled for turquoise!

Here is a view of Poppy's crib and storage ottomans. This is the view of the room from the rocking chair. We are not completely sure of the name yet...but I got the letters cheap enough to hang them for now!

Here is the "Poppy Tree" and Poppy's bookshelf. We received so many wonderful books at our Madison Shower...I worried for a bit that we wouldn't have enough room for them all!

Here is a picture of the opposite side of the room. I look forward to many nights of reading with Poppy on the new rocking chair...it's so comfy!

I had a lot of trouble finding linens that I liked. In the end, I decided to buy fabric and make a bed skirt for a lot less money than any of the ones that I liked costs. I was also able to make a coordinating cover for the changing pad, and a pillow for the rocking chair!

My favorite thing about Poppy's room is the organization! We bought a dresser at IKEA that I LOVE, because it isn't huge, but has wonderfully deep drawers. I realize that the drawers won't always look so good, so I thought I might as well take a picture now to prove that they once were organized!

We splurged a little and bought and installed a closet organizer for Poppy. It was really easy to do (I did it on my own--7 months pregnant), and it made a HUGE difference. Now...time to organized Poppy's Mommy & Daddy's closet! :)

I tried to make a lot of space usuable to "hide" toys and such. Here are all of the toys he already has fillin up his toy ottomans!

The rest of the house is getting "baby-fied", too!
